IRS Revenue Officers
An IRS Revenue Officer is a field agent that the IRS assigns to taxpayers who owe the IRS money. The Revenue Officer's job is to collect as much money from you as quickly as possible.
To do his job, a Revenue Officer may visit you at home or at your place of business--they often show up without contacting you beforehand. Additionally, Revenue Officers may contact people you know from work or do business with to gather information about how to best collect money from you.
Revenue Officers can be very aggressive and will use all available IRS collection methods. Sometimes they will use all those methods at the same time. For example, some Revenue Officers will garnish your wages, levy all your bank accounts, and seize vehicles all at the same time. Revenue Officers will even levy all of a business's accounts receivable at the same time, putting tremendous strain on the business.
